Route of the Mare de la Font to Castellvell
The route of the Mare de la Font al Castellvell is a circular route full of places of natural and heritage interest. With approximately 90 minutes of duration and low difficulty, the walk is ideal for all the family. It can be done on foot or by bicycle while you contemplate the landscape from the riverside forest to the panoramic views that can be enjoyed from the Castellvell.
The route starts in Solsona, at the confluence of the Negre river and the Pallarès ravine. Following this water course surrounded by poplars, plane trees and ash trees you will arrive at the park of the Mare de la Font. Once there, you can follow the route to the fountain of La Mina, a humid and shady place where you will find a cave and a small waterfall. Crossing then the Mina Park, you will follow a path that goes up to the Castellvell d'Olius.
Once at the top, you will find the ruins of the ancient castle of Solsona and you can enjoy magical views of the city and the surrounding landscape. To the left of the castle you will find the excavation of the Iberian settlement. Finally, you can return to the city by a wide staircase path that goes down in front of the Castellvell.
Sant Ponç Reservoir
The Sant Ponç Reservoir is a lake that stretches between Clariana del Cardener, Olius and Navès. You can make a circular route of 16.4 kilometers and little difficulty going around the swamp by the dirt road that surrounds it on foot or by mountain bike. Following this route you will find small rocky or earthen platforms that rise out of the forest, ideal for stopping for a swim.
At the end of the route you will find La Caseta del Pantà, an establishment of Tirantmilles that offers water activities around the reservoir such as Kayak and Paddle Surf rental. It also offers a bar service so you can end the day tasting one of their craft beers while enjoying incredible views of the reservoir and the north of the region.
And if you are in the mood for more adventures, in the same Caseta del Pantà you can ask for information about the wide range of adventure activities offered from Tirantmilles such as via ferrata, trekking or mountain biking, canyoning, snowshoeing, etc.
The Miracle Sanctuary
The Miracle Sanctuary has emblematic elements of artistic and religious character that build its current heritage. Inside the church you can visit the impressive altarpiece of the Miracle, a model of Catalan Baroque art of the transition period created by Carles Morató, which currently occupies the place of the biggest Baroque altarpiece in Catalonia.
Apart from the church, the complex also includes the House of Spirituality, the Benedictine Monastery run by monks from Montserrat and the Big House, a former hostel for pilgrims, which now contains the Miracle Restaurant, offering seasonal Catalan cuisine and a store selling local products.
In addition, there is the Miracle Winery and the Miracle Sanctuary Cheese Factory, which offer guided tours through their vineyards and cellars and ending with a tasting of their products.
