Besalú

Besalú

The village of Besalú was formerly a fortress between the Fluvià river and the Capellades river, east of the Garrotxa. Its historical and artistic medieval ensemble is considered one of the best preserved in Catalonia.
You can also visit the Micvé or ritual bathhouse, one of the only Jewish bath enclosures discovered so far in the Iberian Peninsula, the majestic medieval bridge over the Fluvià river, the old church of the monastery of Sant Pere, the Jewish quarter, etc.
In addition to all this historical wealth, Besalú also offers natural sites such as the Ratafia Garden, the Manyac Rock, the flora and fauna of the Fluvià river or the iconic orchards of the village.
A small village that you have to visit!

The Sau Reservoir

The Sau Reservoir

Within the region of Osona we can find a natural region in the shape of a half moon that enchants with its landscapes: the Sau Valley - Collsacabra, formed by high and imposing rocky cliffs, the Sau Reservoir and the forest of the Guilleries.
The Sau Reservoir is where the village of Sant Romà de Sau was submerged under water. So from the slope of the reservoir you can only see the tip of the bell tower of the village church.
You can explore the reservoir in various ways: around it on foot, by bicycle, kayak, canoe or enjoy other water sports.
La Roca Larga, over 1,100m high, is an exceptional viewpoint that can be reached by a hiking trail. From there you can enjoy views of the Susqueda reservoir, the Faro cliff, the Sau reservoir and the Tavertet cliffs. The rock juts out 20 meters, hanging over the Pla de Boixer and offering magnificent views.
